From a radio newsroom in Scotland, David has moved over to his love of nostalgia with, radio programmes throughout Yorkshire and has a loyal band of fans who, ask him along to functions where he can entertain with his knowledge of music, tv, radio and films of the 1950s. David's other hobbies include travel, theatre, fine dining and good conversation. David is also a linguist speaking Russian, Spanish and Portuguese to name but a few.

David Kendall

David started his broadcasting career with us here at Northern Broadcasting, his knowledge of music from the seventies is enormous. He has a love for this type of music which was kindled in his childhood by musically minded parents. For many years David has had an interest in the working mens clubs in the North of England and to that end has employed many artists, some of whome are now well known names after using the working mans club scene as an apprenticeship period in their chosen career. Currently David is semi retired allowing him time to indulge in his love of this type of music.

Fenn

This is one of our new broadcasters Fenn (yes) Fenn, he is seventeen years old and an avid music fan. He wants to eventualy become a broadcaster after he has qualified in law. His music tastes are wide ranging with a preference for Rock.

Graham Slater

Like most youths in the early 60's the Beatles and Stones played a big part in Graham's musical upbringing, but it wasn't long before he realised that soul music from artists like Eddie Floyd, Sam & Dave, Wilson Picket, Otis Redding and the Motown Sound of the Temptations, Miracles, Supremes, Marvin Gaye & the Four Tops is what he wanted to hear and go out and buy. There were others of course Sam Cooke. The Drifters, Jackie Wilson and Chuck Jackson to name a few, these were all being added to my collection of records. Here Graham shares his love of Northern Soul with you.

Harriet

Harriet is a young lady still at grammar school. She is studying hard for a place at university. Her show consists of the music of today.

Paul Sheldrake

Paul has come to us from Kingfisher radio which is a training arm for people returning from a long term illness. He is very knowledgeable of the game of Rugby League . His musical genre is more to the meat loaf style of interpretation.

Peter Shaw

Pete is once more back with us after a brief respite for medical treatment and we arepleased to say he is now much refreshed and bubbling over with enthusiasm and itching to get on with his show. So every Thursday he will be changing his programme. Peter is in much demand for his knowledge of popular music particularly on quiz shows.

Phil Browne

After working in the hotel industry both in the UK and Switzerland Phil joined the catering department of a College of further education and after 25 years took early retirement. He has lectured to supermarket buyers and breweries on his favourite subject WINE. Travelled extensively to vineyards throughout the world and has been interviewed on commercial radio about his wine experiences. During the last 10 years he has dedicated his spare time to Hospital Radio. He commentates on sporting occasions and is an acknowledged cricket umpire for the Yorkshire league teams. If he can he dashes off to La Belle France at the drop of a hat. He is currently setting up our broadcasting facilities in France.

Pipes In The Pennines

Here we present our regular program dedicated to the theatre organ which is hosted by our guest presenters.

Steve Curtis

Born in Lancing in Sussex. He qualified as a teacher some years ago and became involved in hospital radio in 1999.Steve took up employment in York in 2003 and became a presenter for Northern Broadcasting. In September 2006. Steve became Director of Music at a school in Woking. Steve enjoys playing clarinet, saxaphone and piano (although not all at the same time). He is involved in the hospital radio station at Yeovil hospital where he is director of programmes. Occasionally, Steve puts on an anorak and visits one of the country's preserved railway lines. He is a member of the Mid-Norfolk Railway, near Norwich. Steve invites you to join him every week for Northern Broadcast's very own chart show, but it's a chart show with a difference. What is that difference? Join him now and find out.

Tony Batley

I suppose my earliest memories of radio would be from the 70's (that's 1970 not 1870) I was just a kid then, with all the groups of the day being uppermost in my mind, particularly the glam rock ones. That is until I heard one Elvis Presley. I'd never heard of him (I was so ignorant back then) but remember that every number by him sounded better than the last one. From that moment I was completely hooked on him and all those who were around at the same time. Many years passed and I liked the notion of spinning some of my favourite discs for other people to hear and as such, worked for hospital radio and RSL's in the area. Anyhow that's the self publicity thing out of the way. This show will be titled. PURE PRESLEY I sincerely hope you enjoy the music featured on my programmes and I thank Northern Broadcasting for allowing me to play it for you. Happy Listening.

Trevor Bell

At 14 Trevor ran away to sea. His father dragged him back from a trawler sailing from Hull and insisted that he join the Royal Navy as a radio operator. After serving on Submarines for a number of years he left the RN and joined the Merchant Navy becoming a Radio Officer and eventually after changing to the navigation branch became a Captain with his own command. After undergoing major heart surgery, Trevor wanted to put something back into the NHS and started broadcasting with the hospital radio service. Currently he broadcasts for a number of independent radio stations. At 79 he still bounces around like a 21 year old, he puts this down to being married to a much younger lady. They have two sons Daniel in aviation and Matthew who has now obtained his degree in law.

Yan The Man

After living and working in the UK all his life, Ian and his partner Eunice found themselves in the fortunate position that they could take early retirement, which they did and in doing that made the move to live in TOCON, Spain. With Ian being our technical director this also gave Northern Broadcasting the opportunity of expanding our operation as well. So even though Ian is in Spain he still plays an active roll in
the day to day running of Northern Broadcasting. Thank goodness for the Internet. Ian was resident DJ at the HALIFAX ROCK N ROLL CLUB from it's very beginning up to moving to Spain in July 2005 and even though his main taste in music is rock n roll due to popular demend he is presenting a re run of his shows featuring the Number 1's starting from the begging of the charts in the UK.
